I'm in the same boat. My first apple watch recorded exercise perfectly and automatically (exercise minutes are recorded antyime you do a brisk walk or more, automatically). Unfortunately, when I exchanged my watch for another one (wanted a different style), the watch barely went over 3 minutes and I am a very active person.
